Online appointments allow you to receive the same quality care that you can receive in person. No need to take time off work, find a sitter, deal with traffic or weather problems, or make a trip that's physically difficult for you. Plus, you can engage in therapy from the comfort and privacy of your home or even your office.
Phone appointments are another option I offer. They have many of the same advantages as online sessions (e.g. convenience, no need to travel to my office, etc.), but require less technology and less technological knowledge.
Patients are sometimes concerned that teletherapy won't be as effective as in-person treatment. While teletherapy may not be appropriate for all patients, studies have shown that when appropriate, teletherapy is as effective as in-person psychotherapy.
Most insurance companies now cover both online video sessions and telephone sessions.
